The sad and fateful day of saying goodbye to the pacifier or "plug" as it is affectionately called at our house finally arrived for poor Kayden. The tradition in our house is to throw the plugs in the garbage can just as the garbage truck arrives and watch that terrible and mean garbage man take away my children's sense of peace and comfort. I have let Kayden keep his plug longer than the other kids for a number of lame excuses, so we knew the bond was a little stronger for him and some added enticement would be necessary. So, on Tuesday when the UPS man delivered a special package, Kayden chose to trade in his beloved plugs to the evil garbage man for a shiny new toy.... Seems like a pretty good trade to me....
He gave up this..
He gave up this..Things were going great. He gladly rounded up the spares and threw them in the garbage can. Playing with his new toy took up most of the new hours of spare time he now had, but a whole new world of opportunities had opened up and he needed to find other new experiences to enjoy with his new freedom from the plug.... Hours after the trade in, this is what I found.....
And a little video for your enjoyment. If it hadn't been such a traumatic day, I probably wouldn't have smiled so much at this.... 4 baths and 2 days later, he is still smelling and smiling pretty. He has had his moments of remorse, but overall he has been a champ! I think it's been harder for me not to give in to those bright blue eyes than it has been for him.

That is really funny. That has happened at our house before.
I'm going to take away Harris "UH-OH" as he calls it, after he gets his cast off. He has really been attached to it since his surgery. We usually cut it and show them and have them throw it away. I'm not sure whats going to happen with that. I just don't want to see him so sad. I guess they have to grow up sometime.
Hey, I think we're going to come out there soon. Chelsea is going to get sealed sometime soon. No details yet or dates but we'll let you guys know.
Oh My goodness. Kayden just made my day. I bet he is enjoying his new toy. He is too cute Candria.
HAHAHA. He looks so much like Ryman in those pictures. If you want to see me open my mission call you better be there by the time the mail comes on Friday. No waiting.
Oh Candria, I didn't know Kayden was such a handfull. Good thing you have such a good attitude about these things. So what scent was the shampoo?
I love Kayden! Even with lotion everywhere he seems to still look super sweet. Taking away the Pacifier is a dreaded time for everyone, and I wish you guys luck. I don't know if you've noticed, but your most entertaining posts are about Kayden. I guess he's stealing the show in the lusk family. Keep entertaining us Kayden.
Candria, you are such a good mommy! For me, it is usually a choice between scream, cry, or grab the camera. Looks like you picked a good one. He is such a doll... its got to be hard to be upset at such a cute boy!
That is SO funny! What a cute little guy. I can't believe you have such patience! I would have been livid! What a good mom!!!
