Kayden-Surgery? Take it Easy? What?

So, a year ago on Mother's Day we found a large lump on Kayden that we thought was a hernia. Turned out to be a hydrocele (basically like a hernia, but it's water). We went to Primary Children's and they said to give it a year and see if it goes away. Well, it didn't go away, so it was back to Primary Children's yesterday to have it removed. I was SO NERVOUS. I didn't want to hand him over or see him in pain. Plus, it didn't help that everytime we talked to him about it he would ask, "Will I die?" Once we got there though, I felt very grateful for such a great hospital and that we were going in for something so minor. That is such a happy and oh so sad place to be. Well, pictures can probably tell how our day went more than I can, so here you go!

Reading Books in the waiting room, even though there were a TON of toys!

Getting his spiffy new pajamas on, to go to sleep!

Waiting to go in for surgery, more toys, but we are reading books!

Here he is out of recovery with his own TV and snow cone, he could have cared less that we were there.

4 hours later, we are in the car, ready to go home! The nurse gave him chocolate pudding to take in the car and he had it eaten before we pulled out of the parking lot (hence the dirty mouth!)

Dad took us to Maddox for lunch on the way home. Here is the smile of a full tummy! And last but not least, we came home and within 5 minutes of being in the house, he climbed up on the counter. The kids and Dean's parents were waiting for us with balloons and an early birthday surprise for Kayden. We gave him his codeine pain meds, but apparently the chocolate cake counter-acted its effects, because we decided to go for a walk before bed.....

THIS IS LESS THEN 10 HOURS AFTER SURGERY!!!

Thanks Bleazards for the balloons!!

Way to go Kayden! And you were worried! That kid is amazing! I love the pictures of the pre-op! He just looks so excited and happy! I am glad that it went so well and that he is unfazed by everything that happened to him!!

Cute kid. I'm glad things went well for you. I know how it feels to have a little one go in for surgery. At least he didn't have a huge cast on his arm that he used as a club. You can count that as a blessing!

I'm glad he's doing okay and that it ended up not being major!

I'm also SO sorry we didn't get to see you while you were in Utah. I figured you probably didn't want us getting your kids sick. Next time I'm in Utah I am driving up to Idaho just to see you!

I'm glad that everything went well! The poor nurse...trying to be kid-friendly, and a nurse here ruined it for her. :)
Love you guys!

You could have a blog strictly for the adventures of Kayden. He looked like he had an exciting day.
